Physical Security Specialist (Finance)
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Physical Security Specialist 1 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and responding to incidents or threats, reporting on impacts and outcomes, assisting in developing remediation and mitigation plans and enforcing policies and procedures relating to the protection and security of company assets, associates, and guests of Garmin.
Essential Functions
- Assists with achieving compliance to federal security and IT programs and external audits, and with team validation and verification of integrated security system operations, management of installation, operation, and maintenance of facility management and protection processes
- Executes current security procedures, practices and precedents for Garmin activities and functions as directed by team leader
- Assists with the design, implementation, and maintenance of physical security and life safety systems companywide and assists with the evaluation of technologies into various new and existing sites and facilities
- Participates on the Emergency Response team
- Monitors operation center software and campus activity and responds according to documented processes
- Performs periodic and random security inspections and prepares reports as necessary regarding issues and security violations as required by inspections
- Maintains inspection reports and advises senior management of deficiencies
- Processes physical access revisions
- Examines points of entry to ensure proper function
- Reports any facilities, safety, or security issues
- Assists with investigating criminal activities/crimes and reporting criminal information to authorities
- Assists with security coordination for events, including the reservation of parking spaces, access for attendees, emergency planning, changing internal access to appropriate access to required areas, arranging for Security, and providing an onsite presence for emergency coordination when needed
- Assists with the onboarding of contractors and setting up specialized access as well as assists the team with HR-related security functions of new-hire and intern processes
- Assists with the development and revision of work instructions and post orders and supports the revision of higher tier policies and guidelines
- Assists with performing security and risk assessments
- Minimizes the potential for/detection of unauthorized access, theft, loss, vandalism, and workplace violence
- Rotates on-call so a Physical Security associate is available to handle an afterhours incident on a 24/7 basis
- Coursework towards completion of a degree AND a minimum of 5 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of access control, CCTV and intrusion system components and installation designs
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Must demonstrate the ability to deal with confidential company matters
- Must demonstrate effective and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency and knowledge of current Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Contingent on a successful background check
- Must be able to stand for long periods and perform routine patrols of campus facilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or a related field
- Knowledge of field installation methods (life safety, codes, regulatory requirements, etc.)
- Prior experience working with Corporate Human Resources Department
- Prior experience working with Corporate Legal Department
