Lead Hospital Distribution Specialist (Finance)
Under direct supervision, receives orders for blood and blood products prepares blood and blood products for shipment, and delivers those products to hospital customers. Supports more complex blood center operations such as product labeling, product transformation, recovered plasma shipments. Acts as a shift lead to handle escalated customer concerns, delayed shipment impacts, etc.
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

Acts as the subject matter expert during assigned shift for staff members with product or process related questions.
Receives prepares, and ships routine, ASAP and STAT orders for blood and blood products. Helps prioritize orders during assigned shift.
Selects appropriate blood components for order accuracy to include product type, ageing, and any requested criteria. Conducts a visual inspection of each product prior to packing to ensure there are no abnormalities. Packs blood components in specified configuration and storage container required by validation.
Professionally and safely delivers blood product orders to Vitalant hospital customers using a company vehicle. May deliver products and packages to airport cargo desks, and Vitalant sites. Conforms with required delivery timeframes to meet logistics parameters and customer expectations.
Communicates with customers around order fulfillment, order turn-around times, estimated arrival time, product availability, or other questions or concerns customers may have.
Acts as first point of escalation for customer concerns. Escalates customer concerns as appropriate to department leadership, or medical representatives.
Maintains accurate hospital services records. Accurately records transactions and processes associated fees.
Monitors all storage requirements and updates applicable records and charts. Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures.
Maintains hospital services equipment, vehicles and work area including periodic preventative measures.
Supports logistics by scheduling third party carrier pickups, following up on late shipments, product and supply movement inside Vitalant and support local operations with supply movement as needed.
Addresses impacts of late shipments to limit impact to customer, including reallocating staff and/or product as needed.
Receives, inspects and determines acceptability of blood components. Initiates quarantine and/or blocked distribution for suspected non-conforming products.
Performs product labelling and product transformation, such as irradiation, as needed to support customer order fulfillment. Engages with manufacturing when products needed to fill specific customer orders are not on department shelves.
Assists management in performing equipment validation, including but not limited to, completing appropriate documentation, process verification, and adhering to the timelines and specifications of the validation.
Labels, boxes and ships recovered plasma. Verifies shipments in collaboration with vendor at time of pick up.
Requirements
One year customer service experience required.
Prior experience in a laboratory, technical manufacturing or other regulated environment preferred.
Driving experience in a business environment preferred.
Prior inside delivery experience preferred.
Healthcare industry experience preferred.
