MRI Technologist (Healthcare)
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities
Reviews radiology requisition and physician order where appropriate to ensure proper procedure is performed. Collects and ensures previous pertinent exams are available for Radiologists review. Communicates wet/stat reading results to physician offices or referring institutes.
Instructs patient on procedures. Performs MRI patient safety interview prior to patient entering MRI Suite. Positions patients and if necessary, restrains mobility through use of binders, head clamps, sand bags or related immobilization devices. Utilizes appropriate surface coils where indicated.
Evaluates images with Radiologists and takes additional sequences as needed or requested. Determines sequences, loads appropriate sequences, and operates equipment according to established procedures to obtain diagnostic MRI procedures.
Processes and reviews quality of images; completes radiology requisition with necessary clinical and clerical information. Scans all documents into PACs system.
Cleans and organizes work area to ensure proper supplies required for procedures are available. Reports need for equipment adjustment or repair to Supervisor/Manager/Director. Follows appropriate protocol for notification of Service Engineer for service.
Observes established safety precautions, both Federal and according to Hospital policy. Ensures that safety devices are utilized properly during procedures. Ability to initiate CPR.
Performs venous punctures for injection of contract media and monitors patient for reaction and/or complications. Performs all aspects of image record management into PACs system, as necessary to expedite service. Performs other assigned duties as training and skills allow (e.g., select CT procedures, and General Radiography procedures, etc.).
Ability to calibrate and operate equipment, properly position patients and to apply and adjust restraining devices.
Ability to lift and position patients. Assists in training and orienting new employees to MRI protocols, while providing guidance and direction.

Position Requirements
Education: Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or graduate of a School of Diagnostic Imaging for MRI. ARRT (MR) or MRI Registry eligible.
Experience: One (1) Year experience Radiologic Technologist/ MRI Technologist required.
Technical Skills: N/A
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT); Licensed in the State of Ohio; MRI Registered or Registry eligible with minimum one (1) year MRI experience. BLS required.
