ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) is a primary care medical clinic for USF students. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses provide medical evaluation and care by appointment. Specialty services include, sexual health & gynecology, dermatology, behavioral health, sports medicine, travel medicine and antigen clinic. Lab services are available on site. We also assist students with immunization and insurance compliance, and administer the student health
insurance plan.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Human Services Practitioner (Working Title: Case Manager)
These positions will be located within the SHWC Department of Psychiatry under the supervision of the SHWC Assistant Director of Case Management. This area is dedicated to providing mental health services to students, as well as medical case management when needed. Assessment, Therapy and Crisis Intervention are the main duties of this position. Additionally, close collaboration with psychiatric providers in department is essential. This position exists to assist USF students in preventing mental health issues from negatively impacting their academic success and overall well being. This is the first point of contact for the student within the department of psychiatry, whether scheduled or on an emergent basis. Psychiatric providers rely heavily on this position to convey an accurate clinical description of issues student is facing. A brief therapy model will serve to enhance care and provide balanced mental health services. Vital to the safety of not only the students, but the USF campus at large, this position is critical to the department of psychiatry at SHWC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management - Mental Health and Medical Case Management. Assessment of psychosocial stresses, level of safety and appropriate care decisions provided. Multiple functions of supporting students and psychiatrists including completion of medical withdrawal forms, scholarship reinstatement forms, tuition reimbursement forms, Student Accessibility forms, etc..
Therapy - A Brief Solution Focused model will be used to assist and support students through a semester. Identifying patterns of cognitive distortion, dissonance and/or barriers to success will be included in this process.
Crisis Intervention - Clinical assessment for safety done immediately upon first contact with student. Supportive and empathetic environment created so as to best assist. Sound judgment and decision making are critical to this role.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Master's degree level in Education, Special Education, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or other field appropriate to the program content. Licensure in the State of Florida is a requirement.
PREFERRED:
Candidate will have Post Licensure experience as noted below. Must be reliable, responsible, compassionate and professional at all times. Preferred candidate will have experience working with specialized populations.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Licensed Clinician in the State of Florida with 3+ years experience working with young adults. Experience in Crisis Intervention, Baker Act
