District Employment and Dual Citizenship:
As a Federal Reserve System National Business Line, it is standard practice to post FRFS positions in all twelve Districts to provide transparency and equitable opportunities for all FRS employees to apply. Internal Candidate(s) selected for this position will remain employed by their current employing District and serve as an employee of FRFS. The selected Candidate's new job title and associated pay range will be determined by the employing District and will continue to be subject to the employing District's people policies and practices (i.e., remote/hybrid work posture, etc.).
The System Operations Specialist II is primarily responsible for the large-scale clearinghouse, Real-time Gross Settlement (RTGS), and securities processing and system monitoring activities for the Fed ACH®, Check, Fedwire Funds®, and Fedwire Securities® business lines. The System Operations Specialist II will assist in providing real-time support over three separate shifts using a 24x7x365 business model. The common tasks are similar across each shift, with some differences due to system processing schedules. Under moderate supervision, provides operational support and assists with analysis related to defining, implementing, supporting, enhancing, operating, and recovering the numerous systems used by the Operational areas. May participate on project teams and/or initiatives of moderate to highly complex nature. Assists more senior staff with directing cross-team activities to ensure each business area is informed of relevant requirements, responsibilities, expectations, and assigned initiative deliverables.
The System Operations Specialist II performs recurring analytical and other ad-hoc tasks appropriate for the role in scope and complexity.
There are two positions available on the overnight shift. One position supports weekdays and the other provides support for weekend testing and deployment activities.
Weekday position: M-F 12AM ET to 8:30 AM ET
Weekend support position: Days will vary based on candidate preference, shift time will be adjusted to best support weekend activities.
Monitor the production Fed ACH, Check, Fedwire Funds, and Fedwire Securities applications and operating systems including the completion of the daily checklist of activities which are critical in meeting the service availability targets for customer processing.
Performs application health/monitoring for core processing platforms and satellite/subsystems.
Responsible for the large-scale clearinghouse/transaction processing activities for the Fed ACH and Check business lines.
Provides real-time support for Check, ACH, RTGS, and securities processing.
Supports operations/production issues and incident management.
Conducts analyses to understand operational, customer volume, etc., trends/patterns to assist with process improvements and solutions.
Participates/Supports business testing, defect management, and other activities to launch core processing platforms and/or satellite/subsystems enhancements or new product/services.
Holds scaled decision rights to perform key tasks.
May perform ancillary tasks to support other business operations depending on shift.
Possesses intermediate working knowledge of critical systems and demonstrates confidence under pressure.
Surfaces production issues and other operational matters that could potentially require escalation to senior team members. Possess an intermediate working knowledge of the majority of the systems used by operational groups. May serve as a resource within software and process testing capacities.
Possesses skills to work in a dynamic and frequently changing environment.
Provides ad-hoc analysis and other direct assistance to technical and customer support teams. Monitors interdepartmental communication while ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Skillfully and efficiently controls critical daily payment processing tasks within core applications. Serves as the knowledge resource for other teams.
Participates in projects/initiatives to support payment systems.
Assists project team members with planning, administrative work, meeting organization/facilitation, and discussion leading. Consults shift Lead or subject matter experts and performs moderately complex research.
Possesses and demonstrates team-oriented work ethic and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Exemplifies exceptional customer service and team-oriented behaviors. Takes personal responsibility to maintain and advance personal knowledge of various systems and business needs.
Generally, functions under moderate supervision and able to manage responsibility with flexibility and focus.
A self-starter with the discipline to achieve deliverables, adapt priorities, and manage the rapidly changing demands of the operation and or project assignments
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree or 2 years equivalent experience preferred
Two to five years of relevant experience preferred
Five to Eight years + bachelor's degree for Senior Level role
Demonstrates intermediate skills with Microsoft software suite/Office 365
