About the Role
We are seeking a visionary Director, Billing and Carrier Payables to lead the strategic transformation of our freight billing and carrier payables operations. This leader will work directly with and influence executive leadership to shape the direction of financial operations supporting logistics and transportation, while driving enterprise-wide impact through innovation, process optimization, and digital enablement.
This role requires a bold, forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of finance and supply chain dynamics—one who can craft strategy, foster cross-functional alignment, and lead a high-performing team to deliver scalable solutions in a high-growth environment.

Strategic Leadership & Transformation
• Define and execute the long-term strategy for billing and carrier payables within a dynamic supply chain ecosystem.
• Lead large-scale transformation initiatives focused on automation, digitization, and process reengineering.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational finance strategy with organizational objectives.
Operational Excellence & Governance
• Ensure end-to-end oversight of freight billing and carrier payables processes, maintaining rigor, accuracy, and compliance across all transactions.
• Implement and monitor governance frameworks to uphold service-level agreements, financial controls, and audit readiness.
• Develop and institutionalize best-in-class operating models, ensuring scalability and resilience.
• Maintain relationships with reporting agencies (Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, etc.) to drive improvement in payment scores and ensure integrity of legal entities and reporting branches.
Cross-Functional and External Collaboration
• Serve as a key advisor and strategic partner to stakeholders in Sales, Operations, Finance, and IT.
• Champion collaborative efforts across internal teams and external carrier partners to drive service excellence and mutual value creation.
• Influence key decision-making at the executive level through data-driven insights and strategic counsel.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Credit, Collections, and Cash Application to establish end-to-end processes and remove barriers to drive efficiency and automation
Technology & Innovation
• Spearhead the deployment of enterprise technology solutions to streamline and automate billing and payment workflows.
• Evaluate and integrate advanced analytics, RPA, and AI tools to improve financial visibility and predictive accuracy.
• Act as a change agent, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Talent Development
• Lead and inspire a high-caliber team, including global shared service and BPO resources.
• Drive leadership development, workforce engagement, and succession planning aligned with future-state operating models.
• Build an inclusive, high-performance culture rooted in accountability, agility, and results.
Qualifications
What You Bring
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or related discipline and/or equivalent experience.
• MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics finance, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles overseeing billing and payables in a transportation or supply chain environment.
• Demonstrated success in leading strategic transformation, process optimization, and cross-functional initiatives.
