INTERN - Research & Development HMI Engineer (Connected Car Human Machine Interface Technology) (Finance)

COURSE OF STUDY
Pursing a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Ergonomics, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Engineering, or Human Computer Interaction (includes Information, Human-Centered Design).
TERM - ONE-YEAR PROGRAM
• 1 year in length [37.5 hours per week during the summer; ~18-25 hours per week during school year]
• Internship to begin in May and end the following May
• Location - NASI - Research & Development, 50255 Michigan Avenue, Van Buren Township, MI 48111
• $20 an hour (undergrad)
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current Juniors, Seniors planning to pursue a Master's Degree, OR students currently enrolled in a Master's Program
• Must be an active student for the entire length of internship
• At least 1 year of work experience
• Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
SKILLS
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge around Human Machine Interface (HMI) and interaction, cognitive science, and ergonomics is required. (If you are currently learning them in school, this is also acceptable.)
• Knowledge of psychology is a plus.
• Experience of user clinics / user tests to verify a hypothesis for entire process / any process is required.
• Design test method by using HMI prototyping tools, such as Figma is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designs user clinics / user tests.
• Supports or conducts user clinics / user tests.
• Analyzes and creates documents.
• Researches or supports trends of HMI by literatures or letters.
• Analyzes North American customer data and technical trends to determine user demands.
• Consults with other vehicle development engineers to evaluate interfacing, operational, and performance requirements of overall systems mainly in cockpit.
• Collects data from prototype system, clean/prepare the data, analyze the data, and draw conclusions on the testing results.
• Supports Proof of Concept (PoC) stage for developing Subaru's next generation infotainment system, cockpit system including meters, displays, buttons, etc which related to HMI. Writes technical reports.
• Collaborates with other experts including product managers, UI/UX designers, software engineers, and marketing experts.
