HW, Optical & Electrical Engineering Intern (Engineering)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Summary:
The intern will be part of our Essential Field Instruments (EFI) team and support our customers by providing them optical/electrical measurements on a new optical power meter component requiring work with optical connectors, patch cords, splices, attenuators, couplers, switches, etc. This position will provide hands-on experience in operating various instruments including light sources, power meters, and other lab equipment. The individual must have good communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operating test equipment
• Cleaning fiber optic components
• Documentation of results
• Preparing samples for measurement
• Ordering supplies and inventory control
• General laboratory duties

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior full-time student at an accredited college or university
• Pursuing a degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field
• Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work independently as well as a team player
• Excellent interpersonal skills and decision making abilities
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of basic optics/photonics concepts
