Shop Apprentice -

Summary: As a shop apprentice you will gain hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing industrial machinery under the guidance of experienced technicians, learning to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance tasks, safely use tools and equipment, with the goal of becoming a fully qualified technician.

Essential Functions:

• Comply with all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and reporting hazards
• Assist in routine maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting industrial machinery and production equipment
• Observe and assist experienced technicians while they diagnose mechanical and electrical issues identifying potential problems and learning to troubleshoot basic malfunctions
• Learn to identify and replace worn or damaged parts on machinery, following proper procedures and utilizing proper tools
• Participate in formal training programs covering mechanical principles, blueprint reading, electrical basics, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used and repair details
• Work alongside other maintenance technicians assisting with complex repairs and learning from their expertise
• Contribute to identifying potential improvements to maintenance processes and procedures

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning industrial maintenance skills
• Basic hand tool knowledge and proficiency
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely within a team environment
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks
