Position Summary
The Estimator I is responsible for preparing DC product takeoffs and cost estimates based on client-provided documents, under direct supervision. As a key member of the Terrasmart eBOS estimating team, you will participate in every stage of the Request for Quote (RFQ) process. The Estimator will leverage the Quote Status Tracker to accurately identify the correct Spec/BOM/PN from client details in order to generate an Estimated List Price. Collaboration with the Sales/Project Team and the Design/Engineering Team is essential to ensure the right design and product specifications are captured. The majority of the process will be executed in Epicor (ERP), supported by estimating tools and standard procedures.
Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties):
Identify, mark, takeoff and estimate products of interest to company from contract documents, including all revisions/addenda.
Maintain accuracy of takeoffs, estimates, and quotations of products through self-review of project specifications, material, and labor items as well as the final quotation.
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications (SLD's), and related documents.
Identifies material, labor, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
Computes costs by analyzing material, labor, and time requirements.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Prepares and shares pricing and technical specifications (if needed) with Sales/Project Team.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Works closely with other departments, including Sales, Engineering, Operations and Production, to gather data necessary to fulfill tasks assigned by Estimating Manager.
Interact with supervisors and other departments (Engineering, Operations) on unusual products to ensure all cost factors have been accounted for and that customer schedules can be met. This can be by one on one or scheduled group meetings.
Obtain pricing for materials from supply chain when needed.
Enter cost and selling totals in ERP for tracking.
Where pre-determined standards are not available, be responsible to provide reasonable estimate.
Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or database.
Pursue supervisory review of large estimates.
Review and update resource information (standard drawings/specifications, checklists and notes) to ensure items that impact cost are up to date.
Maintain adequate lead time on takeoff/estimate preparation.
Deliver quotes on-time to sales/project teams.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
