ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Center for Victim Advocacy & Violence Prevention (CVAVP) is part of the Health and Wellness Unit within Student Success. Our office fosters a safe, supportive community through innovative primary prevention programs, trauma-informed survivor empowerment, and compassionate, confidential services to USF students, faculty, and staff who have experienced crime, violence, or abuse.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Violence Prevention Coordinator is an integral part of a collaborative team that leads violence prevention initiatives for USF Tampa campus. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Violence Prevention, the coordinator will develop, facilitate, and evaluate primary prevention programming for a diverse population of students. This position will play a key role in training student peer educators and leaders, including by supervising the Violence Prevention internship program. The coordinator will support departmental outreach efforts by designing messaging campaigns and educational resources. By cultivating and strengthening campus and community partnerships, the coordinator will enhance collaboration with students, faculty, and staff toward a common goal of creating a safer, more supportive USF community. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of power-based violence and primary prevention strategies and will have experience developing and facilitating trainings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campus Programming

• Facilitate comprehensive and culturally relevant trainings on violence prevention topics, including sexual consent, healthy relationships, forms of violence, bystander intervention, and survivor support, both for ongoing programming and invited presentations
• Develop effective, engaging, and trauma-informed primary prevention programming and initiatives
• Plan, coordinate, and support on-campus outreach, including tabling events and awareness month initiatives

Student Supervision:

• Recruit, train, coordinate, and provide strength-based supervision for students in the Violence Prevention internship program
• Support the supervision of the graduate cohort of the Peer Anti-Violence Educators (PAVE) volunteer program and lead specialized work groups
• Provide support and mentorship to the Violence Prevention Graduate Assistant

Collaboration:

• Support and expand existing partnerships with campus partners, including but not limited to Fraternity and Sorority Life, Athletics, and Residential Education
• Identify and initiate collaboration opportunities with new campus and community stakeholders to expand the scope and impact of departmental initiatives, particularly with underserved student populations
• Develop, promote, and implement a liaison program for enhanced engagement with key student groups
• Participate in campus and system-wide committees related to violence prevention

Marketing and Resource Development:

• Create messaging campaigns in support of departmental initiatives
• Design educational resources and digital marketing materials to enhance outreach
• Serve as a liaison in marketing committee as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Communication, Sociology, Criminology, and Education and 1-3 years of work experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree and 1-3 years of experience.
