Category Operational Excellence Manager - Data Analytics and Visualization (Maintenance)
This individual is responsible to develop the operation team's ability to leverage data to facilitate business decisions through interpretation and presentation of data insights along with development of advanced models and algorithms to be used by operations teams and leaders. This role's primary focus is on people, processes, and data, and being the bridge between Schreiber's technical data teams and operations in order to empower partners to be able to see the opportunities to achieve the desired quality and cost improvements through data-based decision making. Success of the role heavily depends on the involvement and cross-functional collaboration with teams such as operations, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, sourcing, packaging engineering, and FP&A to manage the sharing and development of best practices for accessing data, data analysis, and KPI visualization in order to enable plant teams to achieve their quality, delivery and cost targets.
The role champions measurement, methods, data analysis/analytics, problem resolution, utilization/presentation of data that easily translates into action, positive partner behaviors and partner empowerment, and process discipline. We are looking for this individual to bring/develop a level of business expertise to the space they are championing…in this case the Data Analytics and Visualization part of the business.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures as well as how it connects with other parts of the business. Helps own the concepts and interactions around Data Science, Data Collection and Cleaning, Data Analysis, Model Development, and Reporting along with the Collaboration processes to work with and empower their stakeholders to improve business outcomes and develop data-driven solutions. Will perform a variety of tasks in the overall space that may include leading and directing the work of others. Leverages lean and six sigma disciplines where applicable and is focused heavily on utilizing the right tools with the right people at the right times. Someone successful in this role will be self-driven and motivated while executing with a wide degree of latitude in creative behaviors and influential leadership. Typically reports to a Vice President or Director. Management and hands-on involvement in data modeling and visualization systems development and deployment at a company, category, or regional level in multiple locations across the Americas is expected.
What you'll do
Develop SFI Culture - Train, coach, evaluate and reinforce data driven decision making and Operational Excellence principles with partners and Team Members.
Understand and define the data needs of our production teams to facilitate data driven decision making while leading efforts in improving cost and quality initiatives by utilizing structured approach such as Lean Six Sigma to drive results and impact
Data Structure Development, Collection and Preparation – Develop data structure to enable gathering data from various sources while ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
Data Exploration, Analysis and Model Development– Use statistical methods and machine learning tools to analyze large data sets and identify patterns. Develop predictive models and algorithms to forecast future trends. Train teams on using these methods and tools.
Data Visualization and Reporting – Develop standards and create visual representations of data using tools like Tableau or Power BI to present findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner (including plant floor visualizations such as HMI screens). Train teams on using these tools.
Training and Collaboration – Work with operations and cross-functional teams to understand their data needs. Develop/provide data analysis/visualization standards, data driven solutions and targeted training to operations teams to develop an army of citizen data scientists/analysts, who can independently implement defined best data practices.
Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met, and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. A bachelor degree in any field will be considered if accompanied with equivalent levels of experience and accomplishments
12+ years of Experience in engineering, technical, or related area in building data models (data science) along with interpretation and presentation systems (data analytics) is highly desired.
Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities.
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, and Tableau required
Knowledge/proficiency of statistical programming languages like Python or R is desired. Commitment to develop user level proficiency within 12-24 months is required.
Knowledge/proficiency of data processing frameworks (such as Hadoop or Spark) is desired. Commitment to develop user level proficiency within 12-24 months is required.
Black Belt Certified is required. A mastery of pertinent business knowledge (strong understanding of statistical tests, distributions and machine learning techniques with strong problem-solving skills) with 12+ years of experience, a track record of driving Operational Excellence, and a willingness to grow in Lean Six Sigma discipline will be considered as well in leu of Black Belt certification.
Master Black Belt trained and/or certified (desired but optional).
Project Management trained/experience or willingness to acquire the basic skills/training within 1 year.
Responsible for deploying, owning, championing, and supporting targeted training within area of focus (data analytics and visualization).
Ownership, self-started, self-led mindset, servant mindset.
A strong bias to action, leadership, and results.
Travel varies depending on the area of the manufacturing organization being championed. Ability to travel 20% - 40%. Could be higher for short intervals of time depending on business needs.
