In partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI), the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Section of General & Preventive Cardiology is seeking an academic non-invasive general cardiologist for a full-time position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. This is a full-time 12-month salaried faculty appointment and carries with it attending staff privileges at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and affiliated hospitals. There is a desire candidates with significant interest in and commitment to teaching activities. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Assistant Professor, or the equivalent.MINIMUM:
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
PREFERRED:
Applicants with teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience will be most competitive.
Level II certification in Echocardiography is preferred. Desire expertise in adult non-invasive assessment of heart disease, including surface echo and trans-esophageal echocardiography, stress echo and adult congenital heart disease.
Desire experience with exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consulting and attending in a coronary intensive care unit or similar environment. Two year's experience in Non-Invasive Cardiology preferred.

Clinical: Participates in Inpatient general cardiology consult service, non-invasive call & coverage, reading EKGs and Stress Tests. Opportunity to participate in Echo Lab and Call & Coverage for Transesophagreal Echocardiography, Stress Test On Call, and Echo reads if certfied from a nationally accredited organization. Participates in outpatient clinics for USF Health. Duties include: Diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents, and/or post-doctoral fellows. Perform patient exams and order or conduct diagnostic testing. Develop ongoing treatment and disease-management plans.
Prescribe medicine and coordinate referrals as necessary. Conduct early-detection screenings Maintain accurate patient records and charts. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and administration.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university.
Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or statewide committees. To practice medicine in a designated specialty with reasonable skill and safety. To obtain and maintain a valid Florida Medical License or Medical Faculty Certificate. To be a credentialed participant in the College's Faculty Practice Plan who is privileged to perform the essential functions of his/her designated specialty. To be a Medical Staff member in good standing in the hospitals or healthcare organizations where he/she is assigned to perform clinical teaching duties.
