NeighborHealth's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Residency Program is designed to provide new or newly certified PMHNPs with the clinical and academic experience needed to excel in community-focused psychiatric care. This 12-month, full-time salaried residency immerses participants in structured, hands-on training, enabling them to build confidence, mastery, and competence in delivering integrative behavioral health services to underserved populations.High-Quality Care: Equip new PMHNPs to provide patient-centered, high-quality psychiatric care.
Community Impact: Expand access to mental health services for underserved populations and fill critical gaps in behavioral healthcare.
Retention and Satisfaction: Foster long-term commitment and job satisfaction among PMHNPs in Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) settings.
Leadership Development: Develop the next generation of behavioral health leaders, innovators, and educators.
Clinical Training:
Conduct at least seven precepted general and specialty psychiatry sessions per week across multiple sites, each lasting approximately four hours.
Work under direct supervision and consultation from experienced preceptors (licensed NPs and MDs).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers within the Integrated Behavioral Health model.
Engage in specialty experiences which may include Pediatric Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Geriatric Psychiatry.
Educational Development:
Weekly didactic covering topics such as leadership, integrated care, and chronic disease impacts on mental health.
Quality Improvement (QI):
Dedicate time weekly to develop and implement a QI project to improve patient outcomes or processes.
Administrative Contributions:
Allocate time for clinical follow-up, specialty supervision, and residency program requirements.
Full-time (40 hours/week) salaried position with comprehensive benefits, including:

Post-residency mentorship for PMHNPs hired at NeighborHealth.
Newly graduated or newly certified PMHNPs (or those nearing graduation) with licensure and board certification by July 1, 2025.
Dedication to providing culturally sensitive mental health care in FQHC or underserved settings.
Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.
Commitment to completing the full 12-month residency program.
Self-evaluation at the beginning and end of the residency.
Quarterly evaluations by program faculty.
Weekly meetings with the residency program director for personalized guidance.
