The Cardiac Neurodevelopment Specialty Nurse is responsible for an area of specialized nursing practice. The Cardiac Neurodevelopment Specialty Nurse will be responsible for ensuring that developmentally high-risk patients with heart disease are identified, scheduled for neurodevelopmental assessments, and connected with necessary neurodevelopmental and psychological interventions. The Cardiac Neurodevelopment Specialty Nurse will also coordinate and support developmental care initiatives in the cardiac inpatient settings (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Stepdown Unit). Additionally, the Cardiac Neurodevelopment Specialty Nurse will support the growth of cardiac neurodevelopmental research, including management of the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative data registry, and neurodevelopmental education for healthcare professionals, patients and families.
This position is expected to be hybrid (3 days in person, 2 days remote), Monday- Friday.
Responsibilities:
Identifies and schedules patients for developmental assessments based on new AHA Developmental Risk Categories.
Communicates with families about: developmental risk, visits, recommendations, scheduling needs, and available resources, services, and interventions.
Communicates with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to promote comprehensive neurodevelopmental care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Coordinates/supports inpatient developmental rounds and developmental care initiatives.
Supports coordination of educational symposia.
Enters data into the CNOC registry and manage neurodevelopmental outcomes data to support faculty and fellow research
Works with authorization/insurance team to address potential insurance barriers to neurodevelopmental care.
Supports coordination of monthly meetings for each neurodevelopmental program component
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.
Qualifications:
BSN required
Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required
